Japan and the Ashes!!
Hi ALL,
well it has been a fantastic few weeks for me and my partner Graham. Firstly I travelled to Japan to race their grand prix circuit and came home with three wins from three. My first race was in Shizuoka over the 4 hurdles. It was my first international experience over the hurdles and without my hurdles coach Marty, so I was pretty nervous. Marty set me a goal of focusing on a certain stride pattern which I hit perfectly so was rapt.
The second meet was the Osaka grand Prix which was one of the best meets I have been to. Not only for the quality of the meet but for the chocolate fountain we had at the hotel restaurant!! After winning the 400m and being in a world of hurt from running thru the first 200 in mid 23’s I joined fellow Aussie 400 runners Pirrenee Steinhert, Madeleine Pape and Jody Henry to shock everyone except for ourselves and qualify easily for the 4×400m relay at the world championships in Berlin. It was so exciting and we are so looking forward to running even better and making the final in Berlin in August.
Now to the most exciting news for me. My partner Graham received his first cricket Australia contract two weeks ago and after a nervous wait he received the call to tell him of his inclusion in the 16 man touring party for the Ashes. He is the back-up keeper to Brad Haddin and after all his hard work and dedication his call up could not be more deserved and yes I am the proudest girlfriend ever!!
The next few months will be very exciting for both Graham and I with us both leaving for England in mid-late June….
Till next time….keep smiling,
Tamsyn xx
